The Hunting Dress

This dress emerged from experimental draping aimed at crafting an under-bust bungee corset. The design features gathered transparent red mesh, creating a duality of transparency and opaqueness, sensually exposing the body while offering protection with a hood and blade accessories.

This juxtaposition symbolizes the complex portrayal of women in their sensuality, transforming the narrative from the hunted to the empowered through these bold, intimidating features.

I started off with cutting the panels and attaching the shoulder seams.

The I hadn stitched the outline of the under-bust and calculated where and how many tunnels I wanted.

I then stitched the tunnels and attached the side and shoulder seams.

I added a hood which I had to do twice cause the first one just wasn't big and drapey enough for my liking. I overlapped both ends of the hood in front and really like the look.

Then I made bias tape out of the same fabric and hand stitched the armhole bands.

I pulled the bungee cords through the tunnels and added different types of aglets or beadings on the ends, to give a nice finishing that is very interesting to look at.

During the fitting we practised the walk to see if the long train is working well , ans I am so happy with how it turned out.

I looks super dramatically elegant which I love!
