IT’S SO HOT, I’M FREEZING!

is a knitwear collection, consisting of two outfits, that symbolise humanity’s desperate attempts to adapt to extreme weather in a future influenced by the climate crisis.

The contrasting and contradictory combination of the clothing pieces, knit technique and various accessories aims to provoke thought and bring attention to climate change.

With this collection I’m displaying an ironic caricature of society’s approach to putting the responsibility for climate change onto individuals instead of holding the biggest polluters, like the hyper-wealthy and big corporations, accountable for their ecological impact.

The two looks represent the contrast and duality of effects that we’re witnessing presently all over the world; extreme fluctuations in temperature, and “out-of-place weather”.On the “cold outfit” (right) I took knitwear’s best-known traditional function of being a warming garment and both exaggerated and toned down its purpose by combining layering with open spaces;I then contradicted its functionality in the “hot outfit” (left) by adding transparency in the knit technique.

VISUALIZATION

Here I collect my mental process and research of how I want to express the message of my knitcollection,

how I want to present it & what kind of mood/setting I am envisioning

On this page I document all my digital knit swatches

and experiments as well as render exercises.

On this page I let you participate in the knitology introduction week, where we went to multiple different locations

to get an insight on the production, recycling, engineering and inspiration behind it.

A place where I collect all the visual that had me inspired, intrigued, interested or simply feel.

I use this collection as a guidance  to what I want to create.
